The first Wormhole Crawlers appeared shortly after researchers detected an unexplained distortion near the confectionery storage facility. Small, brightly colored specimens began emerging from the anomaly faster than personnel could contain them.
Analysis confirmed a familiar sweet-and-sour composition, but exposure to the anomaly had left the Crawlers unusually light, crispy, and crunchy.
Containment efforts have since been abandoned in favor of controlled public distribution.
